Digitainable Thinkathon - Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence for Sustainable Development

When: 28 April 2020

Where: Bonn, Germany

Apply by: 18 February 2020

Digitalization and sustainability are mega discourses of our time, raising a range of questions. How will digitalization shape sustainable development? Where will sustainable development be boosted and where might it be hampered by digitalization? How can digitalization help to alleviate trade-offs between different goals and targets of the UN Agenda 2030, and how can it foster synergies? How can digital products influence sustainability on a local, regional, national and global level? Particularly, how can it contribute to an inclusive global sustainability, in the spirit of the central objective of the UN Agenda, “leaving no one behind”? How can digitalization shape the next generation of sustainability agendas? And how can we build the research and practice communities to approach these questions?

The digitainable Thinkathon aims at bringing together people from research, the private sector, civil society and public administration. Participants will get to collaborate with people from different places and disciplines and discuss their ideas with experts.

We will not only talk about digitalization, but also use it for an innovative conference format. Digital tools will play a crucial role in digitainable Thinkathon. As part of the application process, applicants will be asked questions to help shape the programme. The thinkathon will also allow for remote participation. The main part of the digitainable Thinkathon will partly be streamed, and questions and comments can be submitted online.
