2018 Management for Development Results Seminar 'Localising Sustainable Development Goals: The Role of Management for Development Results'
The 2018 Management for Development Results (MfDR) Seminar took place in Seoul from 27-30 August 2018. The event was jointly organised by the Asian Development Bank Governance Group, the African Development Bank / the African Community of Practice Managing for Development Results, the Inter-American Development Bank / Latin-America and the Caribbean Community of Practice on Managing for Development Results (CoPLAC) and the KDI School of Public Policy and Management. The international seminar aimed at reflecting on efforts to localise SDGs through effective MfDR, and the challenges and opportunities created for making new progress through the 2030 Agenda.
Thematic inputs were given on the localisation of the SDGs and the principle LNOB, on the roles of national and subnational actors in management for development results and implementing the SDGs by e.g. taking functional assignment into account, on how to align national and subnational government systems for planning and monitoring SDGs, and on financing the SDGs at subnational level. All thematic inputs were complemented by country experiences, challenges and opportunities facing MfDR practice when it comes to engaging key stakeholders at sub-national level in the context of the SDGs
Participants of this event included national and subnational government representatives, community-based organisations and local government associations, as well as private sector representatives and experts from Asia, Latin America and Africa and a representative of the DeLoG secretariat. Discussions were aimed to arrive at concrete actions and solutions that can help localise management for development results to support progress towards the SDGs.
