DeLoG Annual Meeting 2020

DeLoG's 15th and first virtual Annual Meeting was hosted by the DeLoG Secretariat from the 7th to the 23rd of September. Following a kick-off session, the Network's members and partners engaged in dynamic exchanges on localising the 2030 Agenda, local finance and fiscal decentralisation, urban and territorial governance as well as local governance and decentralisation in fragile contexts. The Annual Meeting concluded with a final strategic session focussed on the future development of the Network on the 23rd of September. Please find the presented inputs of these sessions below.

Since the founding of the DeLoG Network its members and partners have convened in person once a year to meet and network, to discuss and monitor DeLoG's annual workplan, to exchange news on past and upcoming activities and to take part in relevant strategic discussions.

Originally scheduled for April 2020, DeLoG's 15th Annual Meeting was meant to be hosted by LOGIN Asia in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Due to COVID-19 and ongoing travel restictions however it was decided that the Annual Meeting had to be postponed. As an alternative to the face-to-face meeting the DeLoG Secretariat decided to organise an online version of its 15th Annual Meeting to ensure that the Network's members and partners would have the opportunity to meet and discuss with their colleagues from around the world nonetheless.

Overall DeLoG's first virtual Annual Meeting consisted of six online meetings; two strategic and four thematic sessions. The first three of these sessions were hosted on the 7th, 8th and 9th of July.  Following a kick-off meeting (7th of July) focussed on the results of DeLoG's annual member and partner survey, DeLoG's members and partners shared inspiring inputs and activity pitches related to "Localising the 2030 Agenda" (8th of July) and "Local finance and fiscal decentralisation" (9th of July).
These virtual meetings were followed by two further thematic sessions on "Urban and Territorial Governance" (15th of July) and "Decentralisation and Local Governance in Fragile Contexts" (16th of July). The Annual Meeting concluded with a final strategic session focussed on the future development of the Network on the 23rd of September. Overall 80 members and partners attended this year's Annual Meeting.

Throughout all four thematic sessions live updates from the virtual meetings were posted on DeLoG's Twitter Account. The slides for all six inputs can be found here:

Based on the proposed activities and ideas exchanged during the Annual Meeting, the DeLoG Secretariat in cooperation with its members and partners will develop a new Annual Workplan for the Network for 2020/21.
