The Retreat was hosted by UCLG’s president Mr. Mohamed Boudra, the Moroccan Association of Mayors, the government of Morocco, the Wilaya of Tangier, the Region of Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima and the Mayor of Tangier. The aim of the conference was to discuss how to transform shared visions into action and how to move from collaboration to synchronization. Overall around 200 participants joined the five-day event.

The first three days of the Retreat focused on the work of the different parts of the UCLG network. These were presented through interactive panel discussions as well as specific workshops. Special emphasis was placed on the development of the Gold VI report as well as programs currently under development by UCLG such as the 7-Keys program or the Local4Action Hubs.

The last two days were characterized by the meeting of the Global Taskforce and a discussion between the Presidency and participants on the future envisioned for sustainable development and the inclusion of local governments.
