30 years from now the majority of the world's population will reside in cities. Therefore, cities' importance for sustainable development is ever increasing. In order to create inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable cities as envisioned by SDG 11, innovative approaches and solutions are needed.

Against this backdrop the Belgian Development Agency Enabel has recently launched its new call for proposals on "Resilient cities: toward inclusive and sustainable urban development" via its Wehubit programme. The call aims to promote digital tools as levers for urban resilience with the objective of strengthening the sustainability of cities in the long-term and promoting economic and social inclusion.
