Cities Alliance launched a call for innovative approaches to enhance climate resilience in communities.

Taking into account that the most vulnerable are threatened most severely by the effects of global warming, in form of heavy rainfalls, droughts, coastal erosion or rising sea-levels, among others, the call places a special focus on informal settlements. Cities Alliance invites urban thinkers to develop locally adaptive methods and products which can take many forms: climate disaster risk reduction mechanisms, projects addressing the structural causes of vulnerability in communities, early warning systems for flooding or flood-proof housing facilities. Interested parties can submit adaptive concepts, products and processes focussed on the community level or projects enhancing the dialogue between local communities and local governments to apply for their grant by the 30th of March 2020. The winning projects will be awarded grants in the size of 25.000 to 30.000 USD.
