Municipalities across Canada are aligning their strategic planning and reporting frameworks with the Sustainable Development Goals to develop robust, holistic measures of sustainability. It’s a shift that’s strengthening community engagement while promoting interdepartmental collaboration.

Stefan Jungcurt – one of Peg’s collaborating partners from the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) – recently moderated a panel with Canadian leaders who have begun localizing the SDGs in their communities, discussing their strategies and tools.

COVID-19 has brought sustainable development and livable cities to the forefront of our collective dialogue, highlighting the need for positive change. For Winnipeg, Mayor Bowman speaks to the importance of affordability and efficient public and active transportation, as well as sewage treatment, composting, poverty reduction, reconciliation, and transparent data.
