Conference: Virtual Connective Cities Dialogue Event for Sub-Saharan Africa

Background
Africa is rapidly urbanizing, and this is manifested in the growth of its megacities as well as that of its smaller towns and cities. In many places, urbanisation occurs without regulation, resulting in unplanned neighbourhoods and provisional infrastructure and at the expense of the environment. Municipalities are now struggling to manage this development process. Urban land and the way it is accessed, used and controlled is key to sustainable urban development with safe, inclusive, green and quality public spaces.

Agenda
The challenges and opportunities in land management and land use planning are the focus of a virtual dialogue event hosted by Connective Cities. We invite urban professionals from sub-Saharan Africa and Germany with the aim to exchange expertise on the following topics: 

• Integration of nature-based solutions in land use planning 
• Land information systems 
• Participatory and inclusive land use planning 

The overall aim is to get to know best practice examples from municipalities with different local conditions. The focus will be on pragmatic approaches that can be applied or adapted to different local contexts.
