DeLoG Unveils New Strategy for 2024-2027

The Development Partners Network on Decentralisation and Local Governance (DeLoG) is pleased to announce its Strategy for 2024-2027. This strategic plan outlines our vision and priorities for the next four years as we continue our mission to strengthen local governments globally and promote effective decentralization and local governance (DLG).

Key Highlights:

1. Reaffirming Our Unique Identity
DeLoG remains committed to its role as a Development Partners' network, uniquely positioned to influence both national governments and local initiatives. We strongly believe that effective DLG is crucial for achieving sustainable and inclusive development.

2. Strategic Priorities
Our strategy focuses on three main areas:

a) Policy and Advocacy: We aim to influence international development agendas and ensure DLG is included in policymaking. Key milestones include the UN Summit of the Future (2024), the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (2025), and the EU multiannual financial framework post-2027.

b) Thought Leadership and Partnership: DeLoG will foster thought leadership through our four Working Groups: Local Finance, Gender, Local Democracy, and Local Resilience. We'll produce policy documents, knowledge products, and forge partnerships with like-minded actors.

c) Institutional and Financial Sustainability: We're committed to ensuring DeLoG's long-term sustainability through reinvigorated member engagement and resource mobilization.

3. Working Group Structure
Our strategy emphasizes the importance of our member-driven Working Groups. Each group will be led by volunteer DeLoG members as Chairs, focusing on their respective thematic areas while exploring intersectionality and contributing to DeLoG's broader mission.

Looking Ahead
As we navigate a rapidly changing world with emerging challenges, DeLoG's role in promoting effective local governance is more crucial than ever. This strategy reaffirms our commitment to coordinated and harmonized efforts in shaping local development policy.

We invite all our members and partners to engage actively in implementing this strategy and working towards our shared goals for strengthened local governance worldwide.
